Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
At Pixel Mosaici you can find copies of ancient mosaics and reproductions of modern mosaics, as well as objects and furnishing elements. It is part of the Racconti Ravennati group, born from the meeting of six mosaicists who are members of CNA Ravenna, which, in collaboration with the Linea Rosa Anti-Violence Centre, created the Fiori di Ravenna-Città Amica delle Donne projects and the Our Skin collective monument.
Lea Ciambelli, founder and director of the Pixel Mosaici workshop, discovered the ancient mosaic technique after high school. After leaving Naples, her hometown, she moved to Ravenna and graduated as a mosaic designer at the Albe Steiner Professional Institute. After years of collaboration in national and international projects, she founded Pixel Mosaici in 2005. A workshop-laboratory where Lea, committed to her personal research, likes to mix marble, natural materials with enamels, glassy and luminous materials. In the showroom one can admire, buy and commission copies of ancient mosaics, interpretations of paintings and artistic objects and attend courses in ancient and contemporary mosaics. An experience suitable for everyone: adults, children, groups.
