Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
It is a space inside the Tourist Information and Reception Office, in Piazza San Francesco 7, dedicated to contemporary mosaic applications and artistic craftsmanship.
The continuous renewal of the showcases follows a precise calendar, which pays homage to some salient moments of the year and of the collective life in Ravenna: from the seasons to the great cultural and sporting events, from feelings to the illustrious people that have made Ravenna an immortal city, today more alive than ever.
In the Mosaic Temporary shop it is possible to admire and purchase mosaic art artefacts, the fruit of the city’s workshops and ateliers, which become the bearers of a message, a memory of an emotion. Those who wish to do so can take with them a little of the beauty that has shone for millennia in the marvellous polychrome mosaic cycles within the UNESCO monuments.
