Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
She is an artist who combines mosaic and sculpture, focusing above all on the cultural and symbolic meanings that food takes on in our history and society.
Silvia Naddeo was born in Rome in 1984 and is an artist who combines mosaic and sculpture, focusing mainly on the cultural and symbolic meanings that food takes on in our history and society.
In 2008 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts of Ravenna, completing her training with the Two-year Mosaic Specialisation Course in 2010.
In 2009 she took part in the Summer School on Mosaics Studies and Restauration project in Damascus (Syria), organised by the Italian Embassy in Damascus, the Italian Development Cooperation and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2012 she was invited to Moscow by the Ismail Akhmetov Foundation: during her stay she made Transition, which became part of the permanent collection of the same foundation.
In 2016 she was selected for the Artist Residency at Isola Comacina, organised by the Fondazione Isola Comacina, with the support of the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera and the Flemish and Walloon communities of Belgium.
She is the winner of several prizes including: the International Domenico Ghidoni Sculpture Prize in 2015, the Starting Point! Prize in 2011, the R.A.M. Prize in 2011 and the National Artinel Prize in 2010.
Her works have been exhibited in Italy and abroad and she currently teaches Mosaic Techniques at the Brescia SantaGiulia Academy of Fine Arts.
