Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
Luca Barberini, visual artist, has his atelier in Koko Mosaico.
He moved away from traditional mosaic and developed a personal, revolutionary, language that is appreciated worldwide.
Luca Barberini was born in Ravenna in 1981 and graduated from the Gino Severini State Institute of Mosaic Art in 2000. He continued his artistic training and, shortly afterwards, in 2005 he founded Koko Mosaico studio with his wife Arianna Gallo. Over the years they collaborated with artists such as Domingo Zapata, Ale Giorgini, Gianluca Costantini, Valerio Adami and Olimpia Zagnoli.
In the meantime, Luca explores a personal imaginative universe that leads him to push the limits of the ancient mosaic technique, developing his own original artistic language.
The manifesto of his style is the work Folla (lit. Crowd), which was acquired in 2011 by the Mar- Art Museum of the City of Ravenna.
Over the years he has presented his artworks in group and solo exhibitions, both nationally and internationally, touching not only Ravenna but also Bologna, Mantua, Rome, Venice, Paray le Monial, Frankfurt/Słubice, Dallas, Taipei, Yokohama and Tokyo.
