Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
After graduating from the Mosaic Art Institute in Ravenna, she worked with his father Marco Bravura on fountains and public works. Her works have been exhibited in galleries and museums in Italy and abroad.
Since 1995, Dusciana Bravura has been proposing her original vision of mosaics, creating sculptures, furnishing accessories and jewellery. The subjects of Dusciana’s sculptures are almost always animals: they have the grace of a childhood dream and manage to maintain the balance between formal refinement and fairytale-like fascination. Murrine, gold and glass or smalti tesserae are the materials of choice to mimic the plumage or the fur of these creatures. The Unicorn sculpture is part of the Contemporary Mosaic Collection of the Ravenna Art Museum. The mosaic jewellery are unique pieces in which Murano glas and vividly coloured pearls, crystals, precious stones and metals harmonise with lightness and elegance. Dusciana’s thirty years of experience in mosaic technique has imprinted a style and found an evolution in the design of graphics with which she creates fabrics for interior decoration and
accessories. As with the sculptures, it is the fascination, love and observation of the nature that suggests these compositions. Dusciana invites you to look closely as a child would while pointing with her finger.
