Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
The artwork I Colori della Città (lit. City Colours), created in 2005, is a site-specific mosaic installation by artist Felice Nittolo, which decorates and distinguishes the façade of his niArt Gallery atelier. It is composed of square modules that repeat rhythmically, creating a slender vertical band. The colours of the mosaic elements, tesserae of different sizes and slightly elongated shapes, laced following their own secret internal rhythm, delicately echoes the tonal variations of the neighbourhood. It is a mosaic that dialogues with its enviroment and participates poetically in it.
