Mausloeum of Galla Placidia
The Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, built in 425 A.D., with its unique early Christian mosaics, is one of the eight amazing UNESCO World Heritage sites in the city of Ravenna.
The catalogue I Mosaici Antichi di Ravenna – La collezione delle copie (The Ancient Mosaics of Ravenna – The Collection of Copies), curated by Maria Grazia Marini and published by Edizioni del Girasole, was created to accompany the exhibition held from 15 July to 5 September 2025 at the Italian Cultural Institute in London.
The volume showcases the extraordinary collection of copies of ancient mosaics, which since the 1950s has helped to spread Ravenna’s mosaic art throughout the world.
Speakers:
Maria Grazia Marini, head of the Tourism Office of the Municipality of Ravenna
Maria Cristina Carile, Byzantinist specialising in art and archaeology
